BethAnn & Billy

What an adorable couple!... I loved so much the concept that BethAnn and Billy came up with for their engagement photos: since they've been dating for practically forever, they decided their engagement photos would be a nod to their past.

We started our shoot at SUNY Maritime College. In college, Billy took a photography course and had BethAnn model on the Maritime campus for one of his assignments.  For our shoot, we visited the places where he shot his original photos and recreated them, with him in the photos too this time.  For our second "scene," we headed to Silver Beach, which is where they met and fell in love when they both worked there. So, they donned their old uniforms once again and recreated the summer romance on the beach.  Shooting on the beach was a lot of fun (and who knew the Bronx had such GORGEOUS views??)

Can't wait for round two at Untermyer Park!

B+B, thank you! I had a great time!

Teaching New Tricks

Posted by beanaba , Monday, April 19, 2010 11:13 PM

Today I spent some time with nonna teaching her how to use her new cell phone.  It started with her desperately needing to know how to check her voicemail, though she knew there were no messages waiting for her... but you know, just in case.  So she learned to listen to, delete, and save new voicemail messages.

Then her curiosity heightened. "May I text message on this phone, Serena?" she asked.  So began our lesson. My words cannot explain it... just see it for yourself.  Here are the first 2 minutes of a 20 minute lesson.

Why blog?

Well.. because I've learned that frequent human contact is essential to happiness. Well, that and I narcissistically love to talk about myself. Joking!--sort of.

So, I thought I'd give it a try. Pushing aside any stigma Live Journal may have given to blogging for you, consider this my quest to a half-year of constant verbal and photographic communication with you, internets. Hopefully you'll find my entries endearing, but even if no one is reading, which will most likely be the case, I'll continue to write, because really, the main purpose here is to motivate myself... alla Julie Powell, Gretchen Rubin, and the Pioneer Woman.

and what kind of motivation do I need to write more, to photograph more, to travel more (especially to the foreign, exotic locations of these 5 boroughs)?.. I think a blog fits the bill.

I'm sure a goal will take shape soon.. stay tuned.
